What do MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC mean?

MX records tell the internet which servers accept mail for your domain. Without them, inbound messages bounce. SPFlists which servers may send on your behalf. DKIM adds a cryptographic signature so receivers can verify the message was not altered.DMARC ties SPF and DKIM together and tells receivers what to do when authentication fails (none, quarantine, or reject).

Publish a TXT record at _dmarc.yourdomain.com starting with v=DMARC1;. Start with p=none while you monitor reports, then move to p=quarantine or p=reject. Align your SPF include and DKIM selector with your email provider (for example Mailgun, Google Workspace, or Microsoft 365).
